Forward: I'm Not Feeling It (Psalm 13) | The Well Church – Full Service Replay

May 17, 2026    Derrick Killebrew

This powerful message confronts a reality many of us face but rarely admit: sometimes we just don't feel it. We don't feel God's presence, we don't feel enthusiastic about prayer or worship, and we might even feel angry or disconnected from Him. Drawing from Psalm 13, where David cries out 'How long, Lord, will you forget me forever?', we're reminded that these feelings are not only normal but biblically documented. The sermon walks us through David's honest struggles across multiple psalms—from Psalm 10's 'Why do you hide yourself?' to Psalm 22's 'My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?'—and shows us something remarkable: David never stayed in his doubt. He always circled back to remembering who God is, what He has done, and what He will do. The danger isn't in feeling disconnected; it's in what we connect to when we feel that way. When we're spiritually fatigued, we often attach ourselves to whatever is available—unhealthy relationships, addictive behaviors, cultural distractions—rather than being honest with God about our struggle. The transformative insight here is that we need to model David's radical honesty. We need to come to God with our real feelings, even the ugly ones, and trust that the Holy Spirit can interpret our groaning when we can't even finish our prayers. Sometimes we need to renew our commitment, start fresh, and remember that the Lord is our shepherd even when we can't feel Him leading us.
