What We Believe

“The Son of God became a man to enable men to become sons of God.”
― C. S. Lewis

Core Beliefs

The following are the core beliefs of The Well Church of Philadelphia based on the foundational truths taught in the bible. All of our teaching and ministry is rooted in and flows out of these biblical doctrines.

God (The Nature of God)

There is one true, eternal, and all-powerful God who exists in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (The Trinity). God is the Creator of all things, sovereign over history, and actively engaged in His creation. God is holy, just, loving, and merciful. He desires a relationship with humanity and has made Himself known through Scripture and Jesus Christ.
Deuteronomy 6:4 | Isaiah 46:9

Jesus Christ (The Son of God)

Jesus is fully God and fully man. He lived a sinless life, sacrificed Himself on the cross for humanity’s sins, rose from the dead, and ascended to Heaven. He will return to establish God’s kingdom. Therefore, Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection are the cornerstone of the Christian faith, demonstrating God's love and providing the only way to salvation.
John 3:16 | John 1:1

The Trinity

God exists in three distinct persons—Father, Son (Jesus Christ), and Holy Spirit—who are co-equal and co-eternal. Each person of the Trinity has a role: The Father creates and sustains, The Son redeems, and The Spirit empowers. The Trinity is a mystery but essential to understanding God’s nature.
Matthew 28:19 | 2 Corinthians 13:14

Mankind (Humanity's Purpose & Identity)

Humanity is created in God’s image to reflect His nature, steward the earth, and live in relationship with Him. Every person has intrinsic value and a divine purpose. We are called to love God, love others, and share the Gospel.
Genesis 1:27 | Micah 6:8

The Bible (God's Word)

The Bible is God’s inspired, authoritative, and infallible Word.  The Bible guides faith and practice. It is unchanging and true in all generations.
2 Timothy 3:16

Revelation (God Revealing Himself)

God has revealed Himself through creation, the Bible, and Jesus Christ. He continues to speak through the Holy Spirit. God’s revelation calls people to repentance and relationship. The Holy Spirit guides believers into truth.
Hebrews 1:1-2 | Romans 1:20

The Fall (Sin & Separation from God)

Humanity was created in God's image and without sin, but fell into sin through Adam and Eve’s disobedience. This brought spiritual and physical death and separation from God. As a result, all people are born with a sinful nature. Sin creates brokenness in the world (suffering, injustice, and death). Humanity cannot save itself—we need redemption through Jesus.
Genesis 3:6 | Romans 3:23

Salvation (By Grace Through Faith)

Salvation is a free gift from God, given by grace and received through faith in Jesus Christ. It is not earned by good works or religious practices. Therefore, humans are incapable of saving themselves. Through faith in Jesus, believers are forgiven, reconciled to God, and receive eternal life.
Ephesians 2:8-9 | Romans 10:9

The Church (Body of Christ)

The Church is the global and local body of believers, called to worship, serve, and spread the Gospel. Church is not a building—it’s a community of believers. We are called to support, disciple, and encourage one another.
1 Corinthians 12:27

Ressurection

Jesus rose from the dead on the third day, proving His divinity and securing victory over sin and death. The resurrection is the foundation of Christian faith. It guarantees that believers will also be resurrected and have eternal life.
1 Corinthians 15:17 | Romans 6:9

Eternal Life

Those who accept Christ will spend eternity with God in Heaven, while those who reject Him will face eternal separation. Eternal life is the believer’s hope. Judgment is real, but God desires that none should perish.
John 14:2-3 | Matthew 25:46
